Halcyon Days

A gentle breeze caresses leaves; children play in meadows that laugh soothing whispers on a beautiful warm summer eve. The setting sun brings her special kiss; a fiery burst across the hems of satin blue dresses, pink dewdrops swirl and fall into a mist upon my cheeks.

I laugh. I love. I watch it rain a soft caress from lavender lips.

Children dance and sing around blue-eyed Mary dropping off to sleep. But a noble thunder quickens some to retreat indoors where windows shine like the whitest gold.

Finally, the small hours of increasing darkness stir me to reach out to you, to hold you close, to feel your beating heart against me while the pattering rain adds a gentle nocturne to our world.
